Precept is independent peer mentorship. It is not emergency services, crisis care, mental-health treatment, or clinical decision support. If you or someone you know needs immediate help, please reach one of the resources below.

If you are in immediate danger

Call 911 or your local emergency services. If you are at immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else, do not wait — please contact emergency services first.

Emergency services

911 (United States & Canada)

For any life-threatening emergency — medical, fire, police, or safety — including suicidal ideation with a plan or intent, overdose, severe injury, or immediate danger to yourself or others.

Outside the US/Canada

International directory of free, confidential support lines by country. If you are outside the US or Canada, please use your local emergency number and your country's crisis support resources.

If you are unsure where to start

Calling 988 is a good first step if you are in the United States. The Lifeline counselors are trained to listen, assess what you need, and connect you to local services. There is no wrong reason to call — distress, overwhelm, worry about someone else, or just needing to talk.

If the situation involves another person who may be in danger, you can also call 911. Operators will help you decide what level of response is needed.
