Privacy Policy

Version 2.1 · Effective June 3, 2026

Precept is an independent paid mentorship platform for healthcare professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep this short and direct because you deserve to understand it.

1. Who we are

Precept is operated as a sole proprietorship by Peter Obaldo, doing business as Precept, based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. Precept is an Independent Professional Network. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any hospital, health system, or employer. For our mailing address or formal notices, contact us at the email below.

Questions about this policy: hello@precepthealth.app.

2. Information we collect

You provide directly

Collected automatically

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Precept is for adults aged 18 and older.

3. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising or behavioral profiling, and we do not allow third parties to do so through Precept.

4. Mobile information sharing — A2P 10DLC disclosure

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services such as customer service is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

5. Payments and payouts (Stripe / Stripe Connect)

Precept uses Stripe, Inc. and Stripe Connect Express to process payments for Calls and to pay out earnings to mentors. When you book a Call or — if you are a mentor — onboard for payouts, Stripe collects and processes the payment data needed to complete that transaction.

Payment method details are handled by Stripe, not Precept. Precept does not directly receive or store your full payment card number, CVV, or bank account credentials. Stripe is a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor and is responsible for the security of cardholder data it collects. Stripe's privacy practices are described in their privacy policy.

What Precept stores about your transactions

To operate the platform, support you, and meet our legal and accounting obligations, Precept receives and stores limited information from Stripe and about your bookings:

How we use payment information

We do not use your payment or transaction information for advertising or behavioral profiling, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. SMS notifications

If you provide a mobile phone number, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages from Precept related to your mentorship account: match notifications, first-message alerts, and inactive-match reminders. Message frequency varies based on mentorship activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. See our SMS Messaging Policy for full details, including opt-in, opt-out, and supported carriers.

7. How we share information

We share information only in these limited cases:

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we never share it with hospitals, employers, or any institution for employment, hiring, or performance purposes.

8. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we deactivate it and remove it from active use. We do not promise immediate or complete erasure: some records — including your email and name, audit logs, and safety reports — are retained where needed for payments, refunds, tax, safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and dispute handling. Messages are retained for the duration of the matched mentorship and for a reasonable period thereafter to support investigation of safety reports.

Payment, payout, and tax records are retained for the period required by U.S. federal and state law for financial recordkeeping (currently a minimum of seven years for U.S. tax records). Stripe-side records are retained according to Stripe's own retention policies. This means that even if you delete your Precept account, certain payment and payout records may survive deletion where the law requires us to keep them.

9. Your rights and choices

Precept does not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or profile users for decisions with legal effects. Residents of Virginia, California, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights and can exercise them by emailing hello@precepthealth.app.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

11. No medical or emergency service

Precept is independent peer mentorship between healthcare professionals. It is not a medical, mental-health, or emergency service. Do not share patient-identifiable information on the platform. If you or someone else is in crisis or needs urgent care, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or local emergency services. For additional resources see Get help now.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. Material changes will be announced through Precept and by email. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
