Effective April 24, 2026
This page describes Precept's SMS notification program: what messages we send, how often, how to opt out, and how we handle your phone number. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Precept's SMS program ("Precept Notifications") delivers transactional alerts to registered users about their peer-mentorship account. The program is operated by Precept (sole proprietor: Peter Obaldo, based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA). Messages are sent on behalf of the brand Precept.
You may receive these transactional messages only:
We do not send marketing, promotional, advertising, or third-party content. Every message includes the sender brand "Precept," a direct link to the in-app conversation or relevant page, and STOP opt-out instructions.
Message frequency varies based on your mentorship activity. A typical user receives between 1 and 4 messages per week. There is no fixed schedule.
Precept does not charge to send these messages, but message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. Check your wireless plan for details.
SMS opt-in is separable from account creation. You can sign up for Precept without providing a phone number, and you can provide a phone number without consenting to SMS. SMS consent is captured via a dedicated, unchecked-by-default checkbox on the signup page at https://www.precepthealth.app/signup.
To opt in, you must explicitly tick the SMS-consent checkbox, which displays this disclosure:
"I agree to receive transactional SMS notifications from Precept — match alerts, message notifications, and inactivity reminders. Frequency varies. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply."
Consent is recorded server-side as a separate boolean flag (users.sms_opt_in),
timestamped, and logged in our audit records. Phone numbers are not pre-populated.
Consent is never bundled with the act of providing a phone number, with marketing,
or with third-party agreements. SMS consent is NOT a condition of
using Precept — you can be matched, message your counterpart, and use every
feature of the platform without ever opting in to SMS.
Reply STOP to any Precept SMS at any time. After we receive your STOP request, we will send one final confirmation message and then send no further SMS to that number. Standard opt-out keywords (STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) are honored.
If you change your mind, reply START to resume receiving messages, or update your phone number from your Precept dashboard.
Reply HELP to any Precept SMS to receive a brief help message and our contact information. You can also email hello@precepthealth.app for assistance.
Precept's SMS program is supported on most major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, Boost, Cricket, Virgin Mobile, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Service availability may vary by carrier.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services such as customer service is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Phone numbers and SMS opt-in records are processed by our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) solely to deliver Precept Notifications. Your phone number is not sold, rented, or shared for marketing. See the Privacy Policy for full details on how your information is handled.
You must be at least 18 years old and the account holder or authorized user of the mobile number you provide. By submitting your number, you confirm you meet these requirements.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced through Precept and by email. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
